Capital Development

Dear Parishioner and Friend of St, John’s Greek Orthodox Church,

In the following months, our vision for a Greek Orthodox Complex will begin as we embark on a huge new building program.

Our Church has been blessed to experience tremendous growth over these past few months and our efforts have caught the attention of large donors who share our dream and vision of a beautiful St John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Complex.

You now have the opportunity to participate and share this vision. 

The brick wall paper in the foyer of the parish house represents the building of our new church brick by brick.  Your name or your children’s names, your grandchildren’s names, the names of your departed loved ones can be memorialized permanently at our new facility if you will purchase bricks at $100 each.  There is no limit as to the number of bricks you purchase…you can purchase one brick per month,  one brick per quarter or one per year….or several each cycle….your choice.

The bricks will be inserted for permanent display somewhere on our new Church grounds and will also feature 4 large corner stones.  These corner stones will also be available for a contribution of $5000 each.  Tassie and Aleck Bond have one corner stone, so there are only  three remaining.

It is critical that our effort raises $48,000 in the next 3 months so that we will have a sizeable down payment for new land.    The land we purchase will be presented for approval at a Special General Assembly. The size and location of the property will largely depend on large donors that are currently being approached and by your generosity.

We require large donors from the outside but they will only match our willingness to contribute towards our vision.  Nothing will be handed to us on a silver platter.

Our vision is for everyone NOW and more importantly for our children and grandchildren.

The eastern end of Harris County, Galveston County, and Northern Brazoria County are growing and land is becoming more and more expensive; therefore the time for us to act is immediate. The prize is our beautiful Orthodox Complex.

The Complex will include a beautiful Holy Church similar to the one pictured with a seating capacity of 250 people or more.  A 20,000 square foot common use building complete with a commercial grade kitchen, meeting rooms, Sunday school rooms, a room for GOYA complete with a canteen, a nursery for our little ones.  We’ll have enough room in this building for a stage and a ballroom with seating capacity for 300 plus dance floor space.  The ballroom area will double as a gymnasium. 

AHEPA and Philoptochos will have their own area as will Greek School.

In a few years we hope to have an Orthodox parochial school and a retirement center for our seniors.    

Your willingness to participate in this fundraising effort will send this message to our benefactors:  WE  REALLY WANT THIS CHURCH, WE  HAVE A VISION and we’re working hard to make it a reality.

Make your statement!  If every brick on the foyer wallpaper is purchased we will raise $48,000 immediately.
