Dear Friends,
Your 2012 Parish Council would like to welcome each and every one of you into our family at Saint John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church. Our parish is a family, and we are here to serve every member of the family. Our mission is to create a warm, friendly, and loving Orthodox Christian community for you, your family, and your friends. We are excited about the upcoming year and what it may hold for our parish!
Stewardship is more than just a monetary donation. It is the giving of time, talent, and resources, and it is through your donations of time and talent that our family is strengthened and comes together in Christian fellowship. Volunteers complete much of the work at Saint John’s. As an example, the Greek Festival provides about 25% – 30% of our parish’s income and is organized and operated entirely by volunteers. The Festival team needs your time and talent over Memorial Day weekend, May 25, 26, 27 in order to be successful this year! Please contact Meni Koulakiotis, Festival Chair, or any Festival Booth Chair to volunteer.
We need you to help us. The General Assembly approved an Operating budget of about $158,000 for our parish this year. With 85 pledging families, this equates to about $5.00 per day per steward – equivalent to a lunch at McDonald’s or coffee at Starbuck’s. The average pledge to cover Operating Expenses equates to about $1860.00 per year per pledging family. Please contact Christopher Wood, Stewardship Chair & Parish Council Treasurer, with any questions about the parish’s finances. Please see the attached parish financial statistics graph.
What will be done with your time and resources? Planning is underway for further renovations to the Sunday School wing of the church building & the Parish Home. Money is in the budget for ministries for you and your children. And we please request everyone’s assistance to pay church operating expenses.
Please complete both sides of the enclosed stewardship card. Sunday, January 29 will be Stewardship Sunday. At the end of the Liturgy we will all bring our stewardship cards to the front of the church. Afterwards please join us for coffee hour in the parish house!
